Headshot Preparation Guidelines.
When creating your style and personal headshot experience we want you to be comfortable and ready to shine!
Preparation is key for getting your best headshot. Check out a few of the tips below to make your session the best ever!
We recommend looking your best head to toe. You’ll photograph better if you look your best.
*Professional makeup and/or hair styling can be arranged in studio, as well. Please inquire before scheduling for more information.
Headshots for Women
Clothing Choices
For individual (nongroup) sessions, bring four or more of your best-fitting professional tops or dresses. These shirts and dresses should be solid or at least have a non-distracting pattern. Consider bringing one that matches your eye color.
Bring a few professional jackets if that’s a look you want.
For a few casual looks, bring a favorite jacket (jeans or leather), a turtleneck, a plain high-quality T-shirt, some fun dresses, or maybe even a cool hat if you have one. Bring outfits from head to toe if you want any awesome full—or half-body portraits.
Hair
Please take the time to style your hair nicely.
Do not get a haircut within three days of the headshot session.
Bring everything you use to style your hair, including anything you use to tame flyaways.
Makeup
We have an add-on MUA option with any session. Please indicate when booking your date that you need our MUA for your session.
If you are doing your own makeup, please apply your makeup as you always do! This emphasizes your natural beauty.
Bring lipsticks and/or lip glosses. Please bring basic makeup and tools to add, remove, and touch up. Try to avoid makeup with an SPF, which causes more shine.
Jewelry
Bring jewelry you love or always wear. We can shoot with and without jewelry.
Glasses
If you wear glasses daily, you should have your glasses in your headshot. If you sometimes wear glasses and sometimes wear contacts, bring the glasses to have as an option.
Shoes
Just in case we do a head-to-toe image, bring multiple pairs of professional shoes.
Headshots for Men
Clothing Choices
Bring at least two of your favorite suits or sports jackets. Solid colors without patterns work best, but monochromatic patterns, such as those in the sample picture, work well, too.
For individual (nongroup) sessions, bring 3 or more pressed plain dress shirts without patterns (solid color). Bring your best-fitting shirts with crisp collars (collar stays will be helpful).
Complementary, simple ties work best. Bring three or more options.
For other looks, bring your favorite sweater, t-shirt, or anything you are comfortable in for a more casual look.
Hair
Please take the time to style your hair.
Do not get a haircut within three days of the headshot session.
Bring every hair styling product and tool you use daily to style your hair.
Please come freshly shaven and trimmed, including your nose hairs.
Glasses
If you wear glasses daily, you should have your glasses in your headshot. If you sometimes wear glasses and sometimes wear contacts, bring the glasses to have as an option.
Shoes
Just in case we do a head-to-toe image, bring professional shoes.
